Belarus’ Iryna Shymanovich reaches Rio de Janeiro semifinal

MINSK, 2 December (BelTA) – World number 316 Iryna Shymanovich of Belarus has progressed to the ITF-W60 Rio de Janeiro semifinal, BelTA has learned.

In the quarterfinal the Belarusian secured a confident win, 6-1, 6-3, over Spain’s world number 290 Yvonne Cavalle Reimers. Earlier, Iryna Shymanovich defeated Spain’s world number 220 Rosa Vicens Mas, 6-3, 6-3 and Portugal’s world number 301 Francisca Jorge, 5-7, 6-4, 6-3. The Belarusian will face Brazil’s world number 120 Laura Pigossi for a spot in the final. The second semifinal will feature two Russian players – Irina Khromacheva (No. 237) and Amina Anshba (No. 489).

The tournament in Rio de Janeiro will be over on 4 December.
