Belarus’ Ilya Ivashka reaches Open 13 quarterfinal in Marseille

MINSK, 17 February (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number 49 Ilya Ivashka has advanced to the Open 13 quarterfinal in Marseille, BelTA has learned.

In the round of Last 16 the Belarusian needed an hour to solve Italy’s world number 119 Stefano Travaglia, 6-1, 6-3. Ilya Ivashka will next face either France’s world number 243 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga or world number 9 Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada. In the opener the Belarusian defeated Slovakia’s world number 114 Norbert Gombos, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3. In the men’s doubles opener Belarus’ Andrei Vasilevski and Romain Arneodo of Monaco lost to Polish duo Szymon Walkow and Jan Zielinski, 2-6, 2-6.

The tournament in Marseille will be over on 20 February.
