Belarus’ Hureyeva clinches silver at UIPM 2026 Pentathlon World Cup Final

MINSK, 28 June (BelTA) – Belarusian Viyaleta Hureyeva won the silver medal at the UIPM 2026 Pentathlon World Cup Final in the Hungarian capital of Budapest, BelTA has learned.

An elite field of 36 top athletes qualified for the women’s event following three prior World Cup legs. On 26 June, 18 women fought their way through the Budapest semifinals, with two Belarusian pentathletes among them. During the final On 28 June, Hureyeva dominated the fencing, took third place in the obstacle course, and recorded eighth-place finishes in swimming and the laser run. Accumulating a total of 1,488 points, Viyaleta claimed the runner-up spot, crossing the finish line a mere five seconds after Anna Jurt of Switzerland.

The podium was completed by Spain’s Laura Heredia, who crossed the line seven seconds after Hureyeva. Belarus’ Anastasiya Malashenoka also delivered a strong performance, anchoring the top 10. This is another major success for Viyaleta Hureyeva this season, following her bronze medal at the opening World Cup leg in Egypt. Notably, Belarus has a history of success in this event, as Maria Hnedchyk claimed silver at the World Cup Final in 2024.
