Minsk tops CIS list of cities for virtual tours

Photo exhibition to mark the 160th anniversary of Belarusian Railway

Unique photos are on display at the largest railway stations across Belarus as part of the exhibition project "Belarusian Railway. 160 years”. The project hails the 160th anniversary which will be celebrated on 27 December. Under the slogan "In our history all events are important" the project showcases the milestones in the sixteen-decade history of railway transport in Belarus. The exhibition is on display at railway stations in Minsk, Baranovichi, Brest, Vitebsk, Gomel, Grodno, Orsha, Mogilev and at the Porechye station, which is regarded as a starting point in the history of rail transport on the Belarusian land.

Nikulin’s Circus in Minsk with the show ‘Everything will be fine’

The Belarusian State Circus and the Moscow Nikulin’s Circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard will arrange a big holiday for their fans. For three months, Belarus’ main circus will host rgw show called "Everything will be fine". Accompanied by Impresario and Showman, guests will travel into an amazing world where people fly, where acrobats defy gravity, where parrots amaze with their exotic coloring and fly directly overhead. The program will feature aerial gymnasts, acrobats, equilibrists, and also bears, dogs, monkey musicians, parrots…

Tour program ‘Loshitsa Estate in the 19th -  early 20th centuries’

Loshitsa Estate, one of the most popular sights of Minsk, invites you to go on a musical journey. During the tour of the estate, visitors will not only see the stylized interiors of the estate in which the eminent owners Eustachy Prushinsky, Ivan and Eustachy Lyubansky lived, but also learn about their fates, habits, way of life, and secrets that the walls of the estate keep. Musical program for the tour will feature the polonaise of the diplomat and composer Michal Kleofas Oginski "Farewell to the Motherland", Napoleon Orda’s piece "Serenade", a piece from the collection "Polotsk Notebook", the works of the German Johannes Brahms and Russian composer-philosopher Alexander Scriabin.

Exhibition of old postcards

A century ago, "open letters" were one of the most accessible ways to communicate at a distance, and the mass issue of cards at the end of the 19th century contributed to the development of deltiology, the hobby of collecting postcards. Vintage postcards, issued between 1900 and 1918, are historical artifacts. They tell about the changes in the urban environment of that time: horse-drawn railway lines and cabs, a telephone station, first cars running along horse-drawn carts, railway. Messages are also of value. These are congratulations, news and requests of citizens and travelers who happened to be in the provincial Minsk in the early 20th century.

Sophia Bells festival of organ music

Polotsk will once again host one of Belarus’ major music events Sophia Bells international festival of organ music. Every autumn organ music enthusiasts flock to the ancient Belarusian town for the festival. On 23 October- 27 November live music connoisseurs from all over Belarus and other countries will be able to enjoy organ music pieces performed by famous musicians from various countries. Moreover, visitors can expect a double treat – the festival will be co-located with the 40th concert season in St Sophia Cathedral.

On 23 October, a concert will be given by Honored Artist of Belarus Ksenia Pogorelaya and a coloratura soprano, laureate of international competitions and festivals Lyudmila Tratsevskaya of Russia. Traditionally,  the opening concert will be the central event of the festival. Every year the organist of St Sophia Cathedral Ksenia Pogorelaya and the Europe Center Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Rail Sadykov bring out new concert programs. This edition of the festival will be no exception. On 30 October, the suite for string orchestra Le Grand Cahier by Belarusian composer Aleksandr Litvinovsky will premiere in the concert hall of St. Sophia Cathedral along with the masterpieces of classical music.  The Russian duet Anastasia Bykova (organ) and Svetlana Belyakova (soprano) will perform on 6 November. The concert program will include works by the great classics Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel, Alessandro Gaspare Scarlatti, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Tomaso Giovanni Albinoni. On 13 November Belarusian soloists, laureates of international competitions Yekaterina Nikolayeva (organ) and Tatyana Kormazinova (flute) will perform pieces from the French Romanticism movement.  On 20 November organ music lovers will hear famous pieces by Dieterich Buxtehude, Charles-Marie-Jean-Albert Widor, Johann Sebastian Bach, Léon Boëllmann, Astor Piazzolla that will be performed by Russian organist, harpsichordist, composer Fyodor Stroganov. The music festival will wrap up with the program “Two Geniuses: Vivaldi and Bach” on 27 November. Laureate of Russia’s Organist of the Year Award (2021), soloist of the Tyumen Philharmonic Maria Blazhevich will perform in Polotsk for the first time. The Polotsk organ has long captivated musicians and listeners with its extraordinary sound which beauty and depth is enhanced by the unique acoustics of St Sophia Cathedral.

Exhibition of Belarusian amulet dolls

Belarusians have had amulet dolls from ancient times: they reflect ideas and beliefs, perception of the world. Playing with dolls was more than fun for our ancestors. In old times, it was believed that the more a child played dolls, the more prosperous their family would  be and the luckier their life would be. The main job of the doll was to protect a person from evil forces, to take on diseases and misfortunes, and also to help children enter adulthood. Visitors to the exhibition "The treasure trove of memory" will learn the history of Belarusian amulet dolls and will make amulet dolls amulets for their family using the technique that was in use until the middle of the last century.

Tragedy of Peoples exhibition in Minsk

The Tragedy of the Peoples is a multimedia project dedicated to the fate of Soviet citizens – victims of the Nazi aggression and occupation, those who were tortured in ghettos and concentration camps, deported to Germany and neighboring countries for slave labor. The exhibition features more than 100 digitized rare documents from the holdings of the Moscow Victory Museum. These are photographs of war correspondents, documents, posters, leaflets, front-line drawings and works by post-war artists testifying to the crimes of the Nazis. The exhibition in the Belarusian capital is part of The Territory of Victory project. Launched in 2017, it has already brought together more than 250 Russian and foreign museums and 7,000 museum workers, and drawn 10 million visitors.

Exhibition of art textiles Windows & Bridges in Minsk

Windows & Bridges is a project featuring Belarusian and Austrian contemporary textile art by a young generation of artists. Manuel Wandl and Khrystina Vysotskaya, the authors of the project, offer a wide abundance of concepts, forms, materials and techniques for artistic reinterpretation of the topic. In October 2021, the curators of the exhibition invited their students to conceptually rethink formal-plastic, ideological-semantic, figurative and philosophical meanings of windows and bridges using the language of artistic textiles and mixed techniques. The result was an intercultural experience of 19 authors from the two countries. The exposition presents more than 30 planar, three-dimensional and volumetric-spatial works made in techniques of traditional, individual and experimental textile and mix media.

Second Triennale of Young Artists in Minsk

Three years on, Minsk will again see a large-scale art project designed to discover new names. The Triennale of Young Artists is the final stage of the national competition, which is held by the Culture Ministry among representatives of contemporary Belarusian art. Within the framework of the exhibition, the jury will determine the winners in the nominations "Painting", "Graphics", "Sculpture", "Monumental and Monumental-Decorative Art", "Decorative and Applied Art", "Artistic Dynasty", "Photography", "Innovation", "Contribution to the Development of Fine Arts". The program includes lectures, meetings, presentations, master classes and other events. Visitors to the exhibition will determine the winner in the Audience Choice award.

Musical Autumn 2022 in Brest

One of the main events of November in Brest will be the Musical Autumn festival of arts. This season, music lovers can expect a variety of genres from classical and jazz to rock and contemporary pieces. Therefore, the festival will be of interest to both professionals, connoisseurs and beginners who are taking the first steps in mastering the "classical musical literacy".

17 November - “Rock through the Classics”: world hits performed by the A'StorioPLUS quartet (two violins, cello, keys, cajon and vocals);
18 November - GRAND GALA: world opera and operetta masterpieces, all-time hits of traditional Chinese music performed by vocalists from Belarus, Russia, China, Armenia;
20 November - concert by the Leonid Ivanov Orchestra of Folk Instruments; artistic director is Denis Cherta.

My Dear Land concert dedicated to Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas

The concert of the Iosif Zhinovich National Academic Folk Orchestra and the State Chamber Choir is timed to the 140th anniversary of the birth of the classics of Belarusian literature - Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas. The program will include pieces by Aleksei Turenkov, Igor Luchenok, Vladimir Mulyavin, Oleg Molchan, Valery Ivanov, Yelena Atrashkevich and other composers. The audience will hear instrumental music, popular songs, choral romances, an excerpt from the rock opera Guslyar, modern interpretation of folk melodies. Soloists of the orchestra and choir Andrei Kolosov, Igor Zadorozhny, Anastasia Rachitskaya, Veronika Chernyavskaya, Arina Alekseyeva and Yekaterina Kroshchuk will perform well-known songs based on poems by Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas.

Minsk International Film Festival Listapad

Local residents and visitors are looking forward to the 28th edition of the Listapad film festival. This year it will be held under the motto True Values. The films of the 2022 program are centered around the themes of peace, environmental conservation, home, love, family, hope, faith... A record number of entries – 1,360 films from 89 countries – were submitted this year. More than 80 films were handpicked by the jury. There will be four competition programs this year - Feature Films Competition, Documentary Films Competition, Children and Youth Films Competition Listapadzik and Animation Films Competition. The Animation Films Competition will debut at the festival.

Over 300 entries from more than 60 countries were submitted to the Feature Films Competition. The jury watched over 500 hours of material and chose the 12 best entries. As a result, there will be films from all regions of the world: Africa, North America, Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia, Australia and Oceania, Europe (including co-production films).

The cinema days of Russia, Uzbekistan, China, India, Indonesia will be held on the sidelines of the film festival. The all-time favorites of the Belarusian cinema and the best projects of the Belarusfilm film studio will be presented at a separate event - the Day of Belarusian Cinema. All in all, together with out-of-competition entries, the public will see more than 100 films in eight days!

International beauty and health industry exhibition InterStyle 2022

InterStyle is Belarus’ only showcase event in the beauty industry. In addition to traditional stands, participants will be able to use such promo events as quizzes, shows and presentations and master classes. Such a format is expected to draw  professional and aspiring stylists, image makers and other representatives of the beauty and health industry, as well as those who want to learn more about modern beauty trends. The exhibition will feature equipment and accessories, haircare, skincare, body care, makeup and fragrances (luxury and upper middle class segments).

Concert by the Valaam Monastery Choir

The Valaam Monastery Choir is a team of professional performers that was put together in August 2005 when the Transfiguration Cathedral on Valaam Island was consecrated by Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia. This team is simultaneously a church choir and a concert group. The repertoire is extremely wide and includes church music, ancient Russian chants, original melodies of the Valaam Monastery and their polyphonic expositions, spiritual compositions of Russian classics, folk songs and romances, songs about the Great Patriotic War and Christmas songs from Russia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece, England, France, Argentina.

Exhibition to mark Feast of the Intercession exhibition in Brest

An exclusive collection of wedding attire is on display at the exhibition “Bride is Ready After the Intercession”. Since ancient times the feast of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin has been considered an fortunate day for marriages. By this time the work in the fields was over, and preparations for the wedding could be made. The exhibition includes wedding dresses from the last century, including dresses in the New Look style, minis from the 1960s, guipure floor-length dresses and simple ones from the 1970s, Princess Diana-like dresses, cotton, satin, and nylon dresses. On display are also archival wedding photos, registry books, albums, invitations to the celebration, and wedding decorations. Attributes of a traditional Belarusian wedding is a draw.

Dunin-Martsinkevich National Dramaturgy Festival

After a break, the festival of national dramaturgy is back in Bobruisk inviting connoisseurs of the art of Melpomene to its performances. The forum will feature professional theater companies from the Belarusian cities - Brest, Gomel, Minsk and Mogilev. They are set to present plays based only on the works of Belarusian playwrights, including Aleksei Dudarev, Vasil Bykov, Yanka Kupala and Yegor Konev. Seven productions are announced in the “Drama Theater Play” competitive program and three productions - in the “Experiment” program. The host of the festival - Dunin-Martsinkevich Mogilev Oblast Drama and Comedy Theater - will present an out-of-competition play “Pesya and Yanko”. The program of this year’s forum will also include thematic lectures, readings of new plays and a creative laboratory.

Prodexpo food fair

The country’s largest food fair - Prodexpo - will gather over 100 companies, including foreign ones, in the national exhibition center. The expo will feature thematic stands displaying a huge range of staples, food for a healthy lifestyle and gourmet delicacies. The event will kick off with the business forum “Domestic consumer market: import substitution and food safety”. The program will also include a bakers’ championship, an international confectionery art championship, an international culinary cup, and a SmakArt contest for the best packaging/label.

Stas Mikhailov in Minsk

Stas Mikhailov, one of the most famous singers in the CIS, is bringing his new concert to Minsk. Each performance of the singer differs from the previous one, as the singer builds up the atmosphere right on the stage talking to the audience in between songs. The concert will feature both Stas Mikhailov’s hits and new compositions, revealing the singer's inner world. Fans are promised a great show with a powerful live sound, team of professional musicians, and fantastic decorations.

Born for Music: Concert to Mark 80th birthday of Muslim Magomayev

August 2022 marked the 80th birthday of singer, composer, People's Artist of the USSR Muslim Magomayev. The native of sunny Baku had an unforgettable baritone, an amazing sense of style, nobility and innate charm. The young singer was called the Orpheus of the Soviet stage: at 31 he received the People’s Artist status and released 45 vinyl records with his hits. All in all he produced more than 600 songs, 45 gramophone records and 15 discs. The program to celebrate the singer’s 80th birthday will feature the Zhinovich National Academic People’s Orchestra, performing hits from Muslim Magomayev's golden collection, including Blue Eternity, Beauty Queen, Devil's Wheel, Nocturne. Among the soloists will be Igor Zadorozhny, Andrei Kolosov, Sergey Medvedev, Vladislav Danilovich, and Ivan Berezin.
