Belarus Events Calendar: MARCH 2026

Armor exhibition at Nesvizh Palace

Throughout the year, visitors to Nesvizh Palace can immerse themselves in the world of ceremonial and hunting weapons. Outstanding examples of officers' dress weapons (daggers, rapiers, shashkas, sabers), coat swords and departmental swords, Masonic ritual swords, and exotic weapons from various countries… These valuable artifacts have been collected and provided by private collector Anatoly Grishuk.

As the owner noted, his interest in the history of weapons first emerged when he found a 1932-model uhlan saber that had belonged to his father. His grandfather served in the Imperial Army and was on the security detail of Nicholas II when the monarch visited our region for military maneuvers in 1892. The exhibition also explores the culture of hunting, where weapons are not only objects of art but also symbols of power and instruments for demonstrating mastery over nature.

A real draw of the exhibition is an installation of a rider on a horse clad in the shining armor of a Winged Hussar of the Grand Duchy of Litva (Lithuania). Guests will also have the opportunity to try on medieval armor, experience its weight, and take photos alongside a figure of Nicholas Radziwill nicknamed the Orphan.

Forgotten Art of Correspondence exhibition in Grodno

For the first time, visitors to the Grodno Historical and Archaeological Museum will have the opportunity to glimpse into the letters of historical figures from Belarus from the 16^th to the 20^th centuries. The exhibition features the official correspondence of King Stephen Báthory, the private correspondence of Kossovo Palace owner Wandalin Puslovsky (also spelled as Puslowski) and his daughter Marta Krasinska, historian and local lore expert Alexander Yelsky and Eliza Orzeszkowa, a writer from Grodno. A special section is dedicated to letters from the Great Patriotic War period and correspondence of Belarusian writers Yakub Kolas, Vasil Bykov, Mikhas Vasilek, and Aleksei Karpyuk. The exhibition is complemented by various writing instruments, including inkwells, ink bottles, fountain pens, pen boxes, pencils, a paper tray, and paperweights…

The Nutcracker in Minsk

Each winter, The Nutcracker, one of the symbols of Christmas and the New Year, returns to the stage and screens in Belarus. In November, the Belarusian Bolshoi Theater premiered a new version of Pyotr Tchaikovsky's most magical ballet. This stunningly beautiful creative interpretation was presented to the public by the choreographer and librettist, Igor Kolb. To enjoy the classical version produced by the People's Artist of Belarus, Ekaterina Fadeeva, one can visit the Belarusian State Academic Music Theater. Additionally, on 10 and 11 January, a chamber version of The Nutcracker based on Marius Petipa's libretto will be performed by the young students of Marina Vezhnovets Ballet School.

To explore diverse productions of The Nutcracker from around the world, audiences can attend cinema screenings through the TheaterHD project. On 21 December, connoisseurs can look forward to the premiere of Yuri Posokhov's ballet, streamed live from the Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Music Theater (at 12.00, Skyline Cinema). On 24 December, viewers will enjoy the cozy Christmas story from the Dresden Opera (at 19.00, Palazzo Shopping Mall). As 2025 draws to a close, on 30 and 31 December, the legendary ballet in Yuri Grigorovich's production from the Bolshoi Theater of Russia will be screened at the Pobeda cinema.

Anatoly Kukharchuk's photography exhibition in Minsk

Belarusian photo artist Anatoly Kukharchuk attempted to unravel “The Mystery of the Black Square" through his exploration of visual meanings and ethical categories via the camera lens. The exhibition features approximately 100 pieces created using a mobile phone and organized as a philosophical journey in three acts. Visitors will move through thematically diverse halls: “The Abyss”, “The Creation of Light” and “Light as Meaning” finding themselves in a space of hope and optimism. In his reinterpretation of the legacy of avant-garde artist Kazimir Malevich, Anatoly Kukharchuk invites viewers to see not an end to representational art, as commonly assumed, but rather a “womb concealing light”

‘Journey Through Time’ tour at Mir Castle

Mir Castle, the tourist gem of Belarus, an outstanding 16th-century defensive structure, can now be explored in small and family groups on the “Journey Through Time” tour. Guests will immerse themselves in the past of the famous Radziwiłł and Sviatopolk-Mirsky residence (now a UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage site) through dialogues with the builders who preserved its 500-year-old walls, as well as with the kitchen master and cook, who reveal the secrets of preparing sweets for the castle's former owners. Sounds and voices from the past will help guests delve into the world of music through forgotten melodies, learn to distinguish instruments such as duda, lute, viola da gamba, and spinet by their sounds, and master the medieval dance Marazulya.

Exhibition ‘In Search of What Time Has Lost’ at Oshmyany Local History Museum

Unique historical artifacts discovered by archaeologists during nearly 20 years of excavations at the Golshany Archaeological Complex (including a settlement from the 11th-16th centuries, three other settlements, and a number of burial mounds) are presented to the general public for the first time. Mongolian arrows from the mid-13th century, Byzantine amphorae, glass bracelets and belt overlays from the 10th-11th centuries… Nearly 600 exhibits in total! will tell visitors to the Oshmyany Local History Museum about the history of Golshany and the entire region from the 5th to the 19th centuries. A separate section of the exhibition is dedicated to the Patriotic War of 1812: here you can see evidence of battles in the vicinity of Golshany including bullets, shako covers, buttons from the French and Russian armies, shrapnel...

New show at the Belarusian State Circus

The Belarusian State Circus presents a new show, “The Magic of Extreme”, dedicated to meticulous craftsmanship and conquering speed, the beauty of maneuver, and the adrenaline of a successful acrobatic stunt. Audiences can expect the breathtaking “Moto Ball”, an adaptation of the Globe of Death invented by legendary motorbike racer Piotr Mayatskyand the Wheel of Death act where performers execute stunts inside a giant wheel rotating in the arena. The program will also feature acrobats on perch poles, a strength athlete, aerial gymnasts and acrobats, a clown and trained dogs.

‘People's Poet’ Exhibition at Yakub Kolas Museum in Minsk

Yakub Kolas is one of the most recognizable symbols of national identity and cultural heritage of Belarus. The new exhibition at the literary and memorial museum is timed to the 100th anniversary of the master of words being awarded the honorary title of People's Poet of Belarus. Each month throughout the year, admirers of Yakub Kolas’ talent will discover a new chapter of his life. Guests will see the national poet's writing instruments – pens, pencils, notebooks that accompanied him throughout his creative career. Particularly valuable exhibits include the feather pen he continued to use despite the appearance of ink and ballpoint pens and a box of feathers, on which the poet's left the inscription: “In order to write well."

‘Night of the Owls’ Festival at Pripyatsky National Park

The organizers of the festival at Pripyatsky National Park invite visitors to listen to the night forest and call for spring. Guests will get acquainted with the world of owls in a humorous format at the interactive stand-up lecture “Evolution's Joke”, participate in the quest “Flying Over the Owl's Nest”, search for bird nests, and take a walk through the night forest along a special route. March is considered the month of love in nature, so at this time you can hear the mating calls of owls, and possibly lynxes and wolves. In addition, visitors will be invited to take part in the Belarusian Calling of Spring rite, warm themselves by the Maslenitsa bonfire and burn the Maslenitsa effigy, craft a souvenir at the creative workshop “Little Owl”, and even bake pancakes over a campfire and on wood-fired candles!

HC Dinamo Minsk in KHL championship at Minsk Arena

HC Dinamo Minsk has updated two club records at once: 12 games before the finish of the regular championship, the Minsk team secured its entry into the KHL playoffs, and also surpassed last year's scoring level, netting 208 goals against the opponent after 57 matches. The most memorable victory in February was the crushing home win over Spartak Moscow (6-1). In March, HC Dinamo Minsk will take on several Russian teams on home turf: Metallurg Magnitogorsk , Saint Petersburg SKA, Lokomotiv Moscow, Avangard Omsk and Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg.

LUMENEM Concert: Musical evening by candlelight in Minsk

The musical group Lumenem invites you to a special evening lit by thousands of candles. Symbolically, the band's name comes from Lumen – the unit of measurement for luminous flux emitted by its source. Viewers can expect a mesmerizing show: in the dim flicker of candlelight, familiar melodies will acquire a different, sensual sound – violins will speak of love, cellos of dreams, and every chord of the piano will become a confession. The program will feature soundtracks and themes from world-famous films, as well as modern pop hits from artists such as Adele, Alicia Keys, Billie Eilish, Coldplay, David Garrett, Radiohead, Rihanna, Sia...

Vasilyevsky Theater from Saint Petersburg on tour in Minsk

The Theater on Vasilyevsky celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2024: during this time, from an experimental studio under the direction of Vladimir Slovokhotov, the theater has grown to include five chamber professional venues in Saint Petersburg, and its repertoire features classical productions alongside innovative, contemporary works. And although 795 km separate Minsk from the northern capital of Russia, Belarusian audiences are well acquainted with the productions of the Theater on Vasilyevsky as it traveled to Belarus on tours in 2023 and 2024. This time, the company will present the comedy “Oscar” (6 March), the tragicomedy “The Man from the Machine” (6 and 7 March), and the dramas “Uncle Vanya” (7 March ) and “Elsa's Land” (8 March) featuring People's Artists of Russia Natalia Kutasova and Sergei Parshin.

Premiere of the musical The Girls at the Musical Theater

One of the Musical Theater’s most anticipated spring premieres will be a stage adaptation of the beloved Soviet comedy The Girls, directed by director and choreographer Nikolai Androsov, known to audiences for such iconic musicals as The Blue Cameo, Tristan and Isolde, and Jane Eyre. The story, based on Yuri Chulyukin’s film and Boris Bednyy’s novella of the same name, has been preserved, and the libretto for the production was written by Yevgeny Muravyov. The 1960s atmosphere will be preserved and enhanced with popular rock ’n’ roll motifs, while the plot will continue to focus on timeless values – love, friendship, sincerity, and faith in the future.

8 March – International Women’s Day in Belarus

International Women’s Day, established in 1857 to honor women’s solidarity in the struggle for their rights and emancipation, is now observed at the national level in 24 countries, including Belarus. In our country, this day also celebrates spring, beauty, tenderness, warmth, and all women, regardless of their status or age. Women receive congratulations and words of gratitude for their work, love, and generosity. Award ceremonies, festivities, and concerts dedicated to 8 March are held across the country. This year, this day carries special significance, as 2026 has been declared the Year of the Belarusian Woman. The capital alone offers a wide array of exciting themed events:

“Classics and Jazz”: Denis Matsuev at the Bolshoi Theater of Belarus

World-renowned pianist and People’s Artist of Russia Denis Matsuev is not only a solo artist, a participant in international forums, and a partner of leading symphony orchestras, but also the president of the New Names charity foundation and the founder of music festivals for talented youth in various regions of Russia. This time, the virtuoso will return to the Belarusian capital with a concert program called “Classics and Jazz”, which combines academic tradition with improvisational freedom. The Minsk concert will feature works by Beethoven, Schumann, and Tchaikovsky, as well as jazz improvisations by Denis Matsuev. Joining the maestro on stage will be Andrei Ivanov (double bass) and David Tkebuchava (percussion).

XXXIII Minsk International Book Fair

The Minsk International Book Fair is Belarus’ largest book forum and one of the most significant in the CIS. It will once again welcome guests with a diverse program while taking stock of the past year’s achievements in book publishing. The main themes of the event are the 35th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Year of the Belarusian Woman. In line with an established tradition, the program features exhibits from participating countries, a literary symposium “The Writer and Time,” an awards ceremony for the winners of “The Art of the Book”, as well as presentations, autograph sessions, meetings with authors, and master classes. Last year, the 32nd edition of the book fair was attended by over 76,000 people, with 21 countries participating.

19th International Youth Theater Forum M.@rt.contact in Mogilev

For one week, Mogilev will become a vibrant hub for directors, actors, critics, and art lovers as the theater forum opens its 19th season. Throughout its history, the forum has become one of the most anticipated cultural events not only in the region but throughout Belarus. The playbill of the 2026 program features 17 performances from Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia. The forum also includes an educational program: meetings and master classes with renowned teachers, directors, and playwrights, as well as meetings with actors and students from the theater department of the Mogilev State College of Arts.

Nabucco opera at Bolshoi Theater of Belarus

The most anticipated premiere of the 93rd season at the Bolshoi Theater of Belarus is Nabucco, staged by the renowned Italian director Giancarlo del Monaco, who over his career (he is 82 years old!) has directed more than a hundred operas in the world’s leading theaters and continues to work. The debut of Giuseppe Verdi's opera on Belarus’ main stage took place in 1999, and later, in 2010, Mikhail Pandzhavidze presented his own version. The last time it was heard on the Minsk stage was in 2016. In 2021, a concert stage version opened the Bolshoi Theater Nights in Radziwiłł Castle. One of the most monumental operas by the young Verdi, based on a biblical story, transports the viewer to Jerusalem in 587 BC and tells the tale of a conquering Babylonian king who, through sins and suffering, arrives at true faith. Audiences will have the opportunity to appreciate the relevance of this work, which the Italian composer himself considered the beginning of his creative ascent: after Nabucco, he achieved tremendous success.

Belarus Fashion Art Week

Belarus Fashion Art Week launches its 14th season, uniting fashion, art, sports, and business under one roof. According to the organizers, the 14SEASON program will be more than just a showcase of collections. It will serve as a genuine platform for dialogue between the creative industry, entrepreneurs, and sports initiatives. The largest event in the domestic fashion industry will bring together contemporary designers, brands, manufacturers of clothing, footwear and accessories, showroom owners, suppliers of fabrics and trims, as well as contemporary artists, speakers, and industry experts. In addition to runway shows, there will be a business program offering opportunities to establish new contacts, discuss collaboration, and connect with industry professionals.

Kuklachev’s Magic Cats: Kuklachev Cat Theater on tour in Belarus

The Kuklachev Cat Theater, which celebrated its 35th anniversary last year, is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s only professional cat theater. The creator of the new production Kuklachev's Magic Cats is Vladimir Kuklachev, the youngest son of the legendary theatre founder, animal trainer, and People’s Artist of the RSFSR Yuri Kuklachev. Trained in choreography, he initially pursued dance early in his career, but unwilling to part with ballet while also intending to continue his famous father’s work, he effectively created the world’s only “cat ballet”. Its uniqueness lies in his ability to blend ballet, pantomime, and the tricks of his furry performers into a touching and atmospheric show.

Belarusian Musical Theater turns 55: Anniversary gala in Minsk

The Belarusian State Academic Musical Theater celebrated its anniversary on 17 January: 55 years ago, in 1971, the company opened its first season, though for another decade it lacked its own building, performing at various venues across the capital. The anniversary marathon began with the anniversary gala Kalman vs. Strauss, or Five and Five Makes Fifty-Five, which, due to popular demand, will be repeated in late March. The entire theater company will gather once again on stage: People’s and Honored Artists, laureates and diploma holders of international competitions, the full ensemble of soloists, two ballet troupes, and the orchestra under the baton of the theater’s principal conductor. The director is People’s Artist of Russia Yuri Laptev, with a libretto specially written for the anniversary gala by Oleg Solod.

Classic Drive at Nesvizh Castle

The Music Time ensemble, led by violinist Andrei Kirilovich, is known for its virtuosic instrumental technique and dynamic stage presence. The group’s repertoire includes not only pop and jazz music but also arrangements of classical works and beloved popular melodies. In their new program, Classic Drive, the ensemble will perform pieces by renowned composers such as Bach, Mozart, and Tchaikovsky, enriching the melodies of bygone eras with the sound of modern instruments and adding expressive energy through new rhythms and harmonies.

Stage Virtuosos: World Piano Day at Philharmonic

International Piano Day will be celebrated with a gala concert titled Stage Virtuosos in the Grand Hall of the Belarusian State Philharmonic. The event takes place on the 88th day of the year – symbolically matching the number of keys on a piano! - and will delight the audience with a program featuring solo performances, duets and quartets, ensembles playing four to sixteen hands on two or even four grand pianos, as well as thrilling piano battles, improvisational exchanges, and dynamic musical dialogues on stage. The concert will showcase Belarusian piano virtuosos and laureates of international competitions, including Igor Olovnikov, Natalia Gromova, Valery Borovikov, Marina Rusakova, Sergei Mikulik, Tatyana Lyakh, Aleksander Muzykantov, Elena Naumenko, Alexander Danilov, Yulia Arkhangelskaya, Anastasia Torop, and Anastasia Alekseychik.
