MINSK, 29 August (BelTA) – The Belarusian athletes Yulia Trushkina and Inna Nedelkina won gold at the 2026 ICF Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe World Championships in Poznan, Poland, BelTA has learned.
In the 200-meter final of the women’s double canoe event, the Belarusian pair faced off against teams from Canada, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Spain, Ukraine, China, Hungary, and Russia. Our girls took first place with a time of 42.26 seconds. Yulia and Inna finished 0.26 seconds ahead of the Uzbek athletes and 0.39 seconds ahead of the Chinese team.
In 2024 Trushkina and Nedelkina were also world champions in a canoe doubles sprint, and a year ago they won silver at the world championships. This marks Inna’s second time on the podium at the 2026 World Championships: the day before she and her partner Anhelina Bardanouskaya took third place in the 500-meter race.
Earlier on 29 August Belarus’ Uladzislau Kravets Kravets stopped just short of the podium in the 1,000-meter single kayak event. The reigning European champion in this event finished two-tenths of a second behind the bronze medalist.
Also today the Belarusian canoe four crew (Ilya Verashchaka, Ivan Patapenka, Uladzislau Paleshka, Danila Verashchaka) finished fourth in the 500-meter final. The Belarusian rowers were just 0.16 seconds away from the bronze medal.
