MINSK, 24 January (BelTA) – Dzinara Alimbekava of Belarus reached 2nd spot in the IBU World Cup Total Score Points, BelTA has learned.

At the final pre-Olympic event in Antholz, Italy Dzinara Alimbekava clinched silver in the Women’s Mass Start. The Belarusian currently goes with 589 points. Marte Olsbu Roeiseland of Norway tops the list with 651 points. Third is Sweden’s Elvira Oeberg (563 points).

Belarus’ Hanna Sola goes eighth with 420 points. Belarus’ Iryna Leshchanka is 48th with 67 points, and Elena Kruchinkina goes 54th with 53 points, Alina Pilchuk - 87th with one point.

Belarus goes fifth in the IBU World Cup Nations Cup with a total of 4,498 points. France is ranked first with 5,029 points, Sweden is second (4,802), Norway is third (4,745), Russia is fourth (4,602).

France’s Quentin Fillon Maillet tops the IBU World Cup Total Score with 636 points. Emilien Jacquelin of France goes second (501). Third is Norway’s Tarjei Boe (486). Anton Smolski of Belarus is 10th with 405 points. Dzmitry Lazouski goes 37th with 113 points. Maksim Varabei goes 58th with 50 points. Mikita Labastau goes 69th with 33 points, Raman Yaliotnau is 70th with 32 points.  Sergei Bocharnikov is 86th with 8 points. Belarus is 5th in the IBU World Cup Nations Cup with 4,208 points. Norway tops the list with 5,165 points and is followed by Russia (5,061), France (5,001), Germany (4,774).

The world’s best biathlon athletes will soon head for Beijing to compete in the 24th Winter Olympic Games. Belarus will be represented by ten athletes: Dzinara Alimbekava, Hanna Sola, Iryna Leshchanka, Irina Kruchinkina, Elena Kruchinkina, Anton Smolski, Maksim Varabei, Mikita Labastau, Dzmitry Lazouski, and Raman Yaliotnau.

The Olympic biathlon program will include mixed relay on 5 February, women’s individual on 7 February, men’s individual on 8 February, women’s sprint on 11 February, men’s sprint on 12 February, women’s and men’s pursuits on 13 February, men’s relay on 15 February, women’s relay on 16 February, men’s mass start on 18 February, and women’s mass start on 19 February.
