MINSK, 21 August (BelTA) – Around 25,000 running enthusiasts from various countries will take part in the 10th edition of the Minsk Half Marathon, scheduled for 7 September, Belarusian First Deputy Sports and Tourism Minister Aleksandr Dorokhovich told the media, BelTA has learned.

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Minsk Half Marathon, with each new edition attracting thousands of healthy lifestyle supporters. Representatives of 11 countries, stretching from Poland to China, have already registered for the upcoming event, Aleksandr Dorokhovich said. The event, as usual, will feature various activity zones, a food court, and also Minsk Half Marathon merchandise produced by Belarusian enterprises.

In keeping with long-standing tradition, city authorities will provide all necessary assistance in hosting such a significant event, Maksim Voropai, Head of the Sports and Tourism Directorate, said. In particular, the State Traffic Police is ready to ensure the most comfortable conditions for both the numerous athletes and the residents and visitors of the Belarusian capital. Traffic on the half marathon route will be restricted to ensure that spectators and participants do not interfere with one another.

The upcoming event will take place on 7 September along the central thoroughfares of the capital city, Chairman of the Belarusian Athletics Federation Ivan Tsikhan said. The program includes three classic distances of 5km, 10.5km, and 21km, as well as a family run, a corporate relay, and a fan run.

Competitors will start at the Dinamo National Olympic Stadium, run past key landmarks in central Minsk, and finish directly on the running track of the Dinamo arena. The awards ceremony will also be held there. According to Ivan Tsikhan, for the first time each distance will start at a different time to prevent excessive crowding in the starting area. For the same reason, race numbers and other participant materials will not be distributed on the day of the event, they can be picked up from 4 to 6 September.
