The Victory Breakthrough commemorative event marking the 81st anniversary of the breakthrough of the enemy blockade by partisans of the Polotsk-Lepel zone took place at the Breakthrough memorial complex in Ushachi District on 2 May.
The event, which gathers not only residents of Ushachi District and Vitebsk Oblast, but also visitors from other Belarusian regions, and Russia, has changed its format this year. The regional patriotic campaign Victory Breakthrough, in its tenth year, was held in two stages. The event started with the opening of the renovated monument to soldiers and partisans in the village of Paulye. After that, the major activities moved to the main location - the Breakthrough memorial complex.
In the evening, the memorial complex hosted a commemorative rally and a concert. Earlier in the day, members of military-patriotic clubs from Vitebsk Oblast of Belarus and Russia’s Pskov Oblast and Smolensk Oblast participated in various games and quests. Then the young people performed at the memorial complex along with other creative groups from Ushachi District and Vitebsk. After the concert, a joint choir of event participants performed the Victory Day song during the fireworks display.
