ISU World Cup Speed Skating Finals 2017-2018

ISU World Cup Speed Skating Finals 2017-2018

More than 80 world’s best speed skaters from 16 countries gathered for the ISU World Cup Speed Skating Finals 2017-2018 at Minsk Arena on 17-19 March. Among the participants were winners and medalists of the world championships and the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics. Belarus fielded its athletes in three sport disciplines. Marina Zuyeva completed in the Ladies’ 3000m and the Ladies’ Mass Start. Ignat Golovatyuk completed in the Men’s 1000m.

Day one featured 6 medal events, including Team Pursuit Ladies, Team Pursuit Men, and Men’s 5000m. The final day of the competitions featured the Men’s and Ladies’ 500m, Men’s and Ladies’ 1500m, Team Sprint Ladies and Team Sprint Men, Mass Start Ladies’ and Mass Start Men. Marina Zuyeva of Belarus won her maiden 3000m silver to finish 25th in the World Cup total score with 180 points.

PyeongChang champion Havard Lorentzen of Norway topped the ISU World Cup Finals 2017-2018. He finished third in the Men 500m race and thanks to the total of 734 points surpassed his closest rivals: Russia’s Denis Yuskov (715 points) and Sverre Lunde Pedersen (700). Miho Takagi of Japan was on top of the women's standings with 1040 points. Marrit Leenstra from the Netherlands was second (770 points) and Japan's Nao Kodaira was third (700).
