Zapad 2017: Territorial defense in place in Glubokoye District

Territorial defense was practiced in Glubokoye District on 18 September as part of the Belarusian-Russian strategic army exercise Zapad 2017. Heads of the district and town administrations of Vitebsk Oblast took part in the event. Territorial defense troops worked together with law enforcement agencies to demonstrate how they handle several tasks in practice. The equipment and service organization at a checkpoint was demonstrated as well as actions of the checkpoint troops as they examine and apprehend the enemy’s sabotage and reconnaissance force using vehicles. Apart from that, a sabotage and reconnaissance force attacked a vital installation and captured hostages in a population center. The criminal group, who had captured an administrative building, was eliminated, no hostages were harmed.
