Polotsk gears up to host Belarus’ Written Language Day and to celebrate its own 1155th anniversary

Legendary Polotsk, the hometown of the famous book printer Francysk Skaryna, the most ancient historical and cultural center of Belarus, is gearing up to host the big events. The three-day celebration of the Belarusian written language will begin on 1 September and will be themed around two major dates: the 500th anniversary of the Belarusian book printing and the 1155th anniversary of Polotsk. Polotsk has invited around 1,000 guests but expects to host many more lovers of literature from all regions of the country and from abroad.
