In 2015, Belarus was ranked 25th out of 179 countries on Save the Children’s annual State of the World’s Mothers report. The rates of maternal and infant mortality in the country are among the lowest in the world. The credit for this goes largely to the employees of the National Research Center Mother and Child who identify and treat health problems in children at early stages and successfully nurse premature babies with very low birth weight.
