6 Jan 2016

Almost nine years ago, priest Cheslav Kurechko came to serve in the border village of Rositsa, Verkhnedvinsk District, in the northern part of Belarus. Thanks to his wise ministry, he managed to unite the residents of the nearby villages, people of different ages and faiths. The local century-old Roman Catholic Trinity Church was renovated thanks to his efforts. Several times a year Rositsa welcomes pilgrims from different parts of Belarus and other countries who come to honor the memory of priests Antoni Lyashchevich and Yuri Kashira who were burned alive by the Nazis in February 1943. Under Cheslav Kurechko's leadership, the locals beautified the area around the memorial and planted the Alley of the Blessed of cedars and barberries that leads to the mass grave and symbolizes the thorny path of the Rositsa martyrs.
