The nationwide New Year's charity campaign Our Children has officially launched in Belarus. The main venue for the kick-off event was the Gomel Palace and Park Ensemble.

It brought together 350 children from various parts of Gomel Oblast. The children witnessed the beginning of a marathon of kindness, wonders, joy, and magic by joining the New Year's teleconference.

The “Academy of Good Deeds” opened its doors at the launch of the New Year's marathon. Its principal professor of magic is Ded Moroz (Grandfather Frost) who is always accompanied by Snegurochka (the Snow Maiden).

“Today, we begin the New Year celebrations and launch our traditional charity campaign Our Children. Soon, it will be joined by the second state project, 'From the Bottom of Our Hearts,' which is focused on the elderly. This is a tradition. Traditions are a sign of a mature and established community. In our country, there are many such traditions," Deputy Prime Minister Natalya Petkevich of Belarus emphasized.

One of the president’s first decisions, she recalled, was to launch the 'Our Children' campaign as part of the state program for child support and protection. “Today we have launched the campaign for the 31st time. At the beginning it was a holiday for children who especially needed protection, were deprived of family comfort, or left without parental care. Today this campaign brings together all children and adults,” the deputy prime minister noted.
