Napoleon's crossing of the Berezina reenactment

Every year the reenactment event features the events of the French Emperor's crossing of the Berezina River near the Belarusian villages of Studenka and Brili. Then, 211 years ago, the Russian army tried to encircle the French troops and finally destroy them. The battle became so iconic that a new word appeared in the French language – berezina, meaning the collapse of all hopes.
