One of the most anticipated cultural events in Belarus has returned to the big screen after being halted for a year due to the pandemic. The festival is back to delight the audience with world premieres, new names and debuts across various cinema genres. The opening ceremony took place in the Moskva cinema house on 20 November. It brought together directors, actors, film critics, journalists and, of course, moviegoers.
The honor to open the 27th edition of the film festival was given to The Royal Game (Austria, Germany) directed by Philip Stelzl. All in all, 273 entries from 54 countries were submitted to the festival. The main competition program includes 13 feature films, 17 documentary films, 22 movies as part of the Cinema of the Youth competition of youth directors, 14 films as part the Children's and Youth Film Competition Listapadzik.
The film festival under the slogan “Cinema - Symphony of Unity” will run a little less than a week until 26 November and will create a chamber atmosphere for its audience. In addition to the screenings in five cinema houses in Minsk, Listapad 2021 will feature presentations, meet-the-artist events, special screenings at Belarusfilm Studio, a roundtable of leading CIS filmmakers, a retrospective screening of the best works by renowned director Viktor Turov at the Museum of the History of Belarusian Cinema and a master class from a Japanese stuntman at Belarusian State University.
