On the day of Saint George the Victorious, residents of the village of Pogost, Zhitkovichi District, performed the spring rite of Jurauski Karahod. Wearing wreaths and national costumes, the villagers went out into the field, danced round dances and asked God for a good harvest sacrificing a specially baked loaf of bread – “karahod”.

The rite has been recognized as an intangible historical and cultural value of Belarus. In December 2019, it was included in the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding.
