2nd European Games Flame of Peace torch relay arrives in Mogilev Oblast
30 May 2019

The Flame of Peace torch relay of the 2nd European Games in Minsk is already halfway through its journey around Belarus. Vitebsk Oblast passed the torch to Mogilev Oblast where it will travel around the main landmarks of the region.

The ceremony took place at Buinichi Field Memorial on 30 May. Over a thousand Mogilev citizens gathered to welcome torchbearers, among whom were soloist of IOWA band Yekaterina Ivanchikova and well-known Belarusian artist Viktor Alshevsky.

The torch relay proceeded to the zoo where the Flame of Peace was taken on a railway safari and then to the harbor on the Dnieper River from where the flame headed to Mogilev. The route also featured two big companies: Mogilevliftmash and Mogotex.

In the evening, the European Games torches were lit near the cascade fountain in Podnikolsky Park. The torchbearers carried the flame along Pionerskaya Street to famous Stargazer Square. The event in Mogilev wrapped up with a concert featuring Belarusian celebrities and a display of fireworks.

The torch relay will move on to Shklov to visit the city hall and then to Alexandria, Gorki, and the Belarusian natural monument Golubaya Krinitsa (Blue Spring). The Flame of Peace will also visit the Ludchitskaya Vysota war memorial in Bykhov District and the Chigirinskoye Water Reservoir. The symbol of the 2nd European Games will wrap up its journey across Mogilev Oblast by stopping in the city of Bobruisk and Bobruisk District.
