Legends Race 2019: Outstanding athletes attends biathlon festival in Raubichi, Belarus

Legends Race 2019: Outstanding athletes attends biathlon festival in Raubichi, Belarus

The third edition of the unique project, authored by four-time Olympic champion Darya Domracheva, gathered biathlon big names in Raubichi. This year, the event has brought together the athletes who, as the organizers calculated, have won 250 medals of the world championships and Olympic Games during their professional careers!

In addition to famous Belarusian-Norwegian couple of Darya Domracheva and Ole Einar Bjoerndalen, the line-up in Raubichi featured Andriy Deryzemlya (Ukraine), Vladimir Drachev (Russia), Lars Berger (Norway), Florence Baverel (France), Simone Hauswald (Germany), Nadezhda Skardino (Belarus), Halvard Hanevold (Norway), Anna Bogaliy (Russia) Vincent Defrasne (France), Sergei Chepikov (Russia), Frode Andresen (Norway), Sergei Novikov (Belarus), Alexander Popov (Belarus), Corinne Niogret (France), Elena Zubrilova (Belarus), Karin Oberhofer (Italy), Ekaterina Dafovska (Bulgaria), Pieralberto Carrara (Italy) and Olena Petrova (Ukraine).  

The festival kicked off with the Women Mass Start. PyeongChang Olympic champion Nadezhda Skardino won the gold. Anna Bogaliy from Russia came in second Simone Hauswald of Germany third.

The Legends Race continued with the Men Mass Start. Ukrainian Andriy Derizemlya was first, Ole Einar Bjeorndalen second. Bronze went to the Vancouver Olympic silver medalist Sergei Novikov of Belarus.

The final and the most spectacular event on the program of the Legends Race was the Mixed Relay. The gold medal went to Nadezhda Skardino and Sergei Novikov. Darya Domracheva and Ole Einar Bjoerndalen finished in second. Anna Bogaliy (Russia) and Frode Andresen (Norway) picked up bronze.

The Legends Race wrapped up with a ceremony to award winners and prizewinners of the biathlon festival which was attended by Sport and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk, NOC First Vice President Andrei Astashevich, and head of the President’s Sports Club Dmitry Lukashenko.
