The 1st Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan in Minsk

The First Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistanwas held in Minsk on 29-30 July. It took place in anticipation of the official visit of Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Belarusian capital.

Attending the forum were representatives of the regions, ministries and departments, parliaments, and business communities of the two countries. The delegation of Uzbekistan was led by First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of Oliy Majlis (Parliament) Sadiq Safaev. The Uzbekistan delegation will include representatives of Andijan, Bukhara, Jizzakh, Namangan, Samarkand, Xorazm, Fergana and Tashkent regions.

The forum worked in three sections: industrial cooperation, agriculture and cooperation in humanitarian, information, communication and scientific fields. The plenary focused on cooperation of the regions as a key factor in the development of interstate relations. Interregional cooperation agreements and commercial contracts were signed during the forum.

Guests and participants of the forum got familiar with the exhibition of Uzbek goods. Themed expositions were on show on the sidelines of the panel discussions.  A monument to Uzbek poet Ali-Shir Nava'i was unveiled in Minsk during the forum.
