Mass Media in Belarus expo kicks off in Minsk

The 23rd edition of the Mass Media in Belarus expo kicked off in Minsk on 2 May.

The exhibition will feature more than 50 exhibitors. The expo will traditionally showcase printed and digital mass media as well as online publications, which started seeking registration as mass media in Belarus in accordance with legislation novelties as of 1 December 2018.

According to the Information Ministry, the program of the expo will feature presentations of information and online projects, autograph sessions, and workshops.

The expo will also showcase projects of the Belarusian Telegraph Agency BelTA, press services and communication agencies. BelTA will display rare photos of 1941-1944 and partisan journals. BelTA’s stand will also show traditions of sovereign Belarus, and will also serve as a venue to meet with athletes and set a new record.

Another stand prepared with the assistance of the Office of the Commissioner for Religions and Nationalities will display diasporas’ mass media outlets, i.e. of the Baltic states, Ukraine and Russia. A delegation from Uzbekistan will attend the event as well. The Chinese embassy in Belarus will get visitors familiar with Chinese mass media outlets. The opening day of the exhibition will include the awards ceremony for the winners of the contest for the best coverage of international and interdenominational relations, the intercultural dialogue in Belarus and cooperation with compatriots living abroad.

On 3 May the expo will hold its first PR Day and also a large presentation of network media, including Mediana.by founded jointly with the Department of Journalism of the Belarusian State University, the Information Ministry, and the public press center House of the Press.

The Dipservice Hall in Minsk will host the awards ceremony for the winners of the national contest of printed mass media Golden Letter. Over 330 applications have been received this year.

The Mass Media in Belarus expo will mark Children’s Day on 4 May.

Taking part in the exhibition will also be cable television operators, printed media distributors, and publishing houses. Belsoyuzpechat will hold book presentations and autograph sessions, interviews and workshops, a contest of children’s drawings, and a quest dedicated to the Great Patriotic War.

In the run-up to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from the Nazis Belpochta will feature a promo event “Send a card to the veteran of the Great Patriotic War”.

The Belarusian mass media outlets will also showcase projects as part of the nationwide campaign Belarus Remembers.
