Belarusian Catholics and Protestants celebrated Easter on 9 April. It is noteworthy that on the same day Orthodox Christians celebrated Palm Sunday, or the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem. On Holy Saturday the Christians were busy preparing for the day and bringing their Easter cakes and eggs to be blessed in churches. On the holy night the Roman Catholic churches held the most solemn divine service of the year - the Easter Vigil Midnight Mass. According to tradition, every church lit the Paschal, a large candle symbolizing the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is then used to light all the candles of celebration.

The festive service in the Minsk Cathedral of Saint Virgin Mary, the main Catholic church of Belarus, was led by Metropolitan of Minsk and Mogilev Archdiocese Archbishop Jozef Staniewski. A live video broadcast was organized for those who could not attend but who wanted to join the service.

On the morning of 9 April, the festive services continued. The rite of blessing of the new fire and water was held. After that, the parishioners took the Easter lamps home to their families. “The feast of feasts, celebration of celebrations ", according to the church calendar, will last for another seven days.
