Yermoshina hopes for more visible parliamentary campaign

MINSK, 9 June (BelTA) – I hope that the parliamentary campaign will become more visible for the electorate, Chairperson of the Belarusian Central Election Commission (CEC) Lidia Yermoshina said in an interview to the Belarus One TV channel on 9 June, BelTA has learned.

“We have modern election legislation. We constantly simplify and modernize it for the participants of the election campaign. We are gradually shifting from a so-called social electoral process, I mean a budgetary one, to business-like, capitalistic elections when money is invested in the election campaign,” she explained.

Lidia Yermoshina noted that election campaigns in Belarus are already invested. “We saw how money was invested in the election campaigns of the presidential candidates. I hope that out potential candidates to the parliament will also start to invest. This means they will have an opportunity to organize additional information activities, and the campaign will become more visible and interesting for the voters,” she said.

110 constituencies have been formed for the parliamentary elections in Belarus. The elections will take place on 11 September.
