Yermoshina expects strong party nominations for parliamentary elections

MINSK, 18 July (BelTA) – Chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina expects parties to make strong nominations for the upcoming parliamentary elections. She made a relevant statement in an interview with the Belarus 1 TV channel on 17 July, BelTA has learned.

The head of the Belarusian CEC pointed out that the deadline for the submission of candidatures to the House of Representatives is 1 August. The CEC expects to start receiving nomination documents from parties and labor groups this week. “We hope to see the strongest candidates for parliamentary seats,” Lidia Yermoshina noted.

At the current stage of the electoral campaign, the submission of candidatures to the parliament runs simultaneously with the nomination of candidates to precinct election commissions that are to be formed by 27 July. The elections to the House of Representatives are scheduled for 11 September.
