MINSK, 17 October (BelTA) – District election commissions will complete the registration of candidates to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the seventh convocation on 17 October, BelTA has learned.

Once registered, candidates will begin their pre-election campaign.

Candidates’ statements will be broadcast on radio and television from 21 October to 6 November on working days. Each candidate will get five minutes on the Belarus 3 or STV channels. TV broadcasts will be available from 7 pm to 8.40 pm. “On 22 and 29 October candidates’ statements will be broadcast from 7 pm to 7.30 pm,” said representatives of the Belarusian TV and Radio Company. Airtime for all participants in the election campaign is free of charge.

Radio broadcasts will be available from 7 am to 8 am. Airtime will be allocated for candidates in Minsk and Minsk Oblast by Radio-Minsk and Minskaya Volna radio station. The corresponding regional TV and radio companies will allocate airtime for candidates nominated in other regions.

Airtime for TV debates is reserved for no more than five minutes per candidate. The procedure for organizing and holding debates, dates and hosts are determined by the TV and radio companies.

Candidates have the right to publish their election programs either in one of the national newspapers (Zvyazda, Respublika) or in the corresponding regional newspaper, or in newspapers published on the territory of their district. Candidates should submit the texts of their programs to the media before 27 October.

The elections to the House of Representatives will be held on 17 November, to the Council of the Republic - on 7 November.
