Opinion: Parliamentary elections have a direct impact on the society’s development

MINSK, 29 June (BelTA) – The Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (FTUB) will take an active part in the 2016 parliamentary elections, FTUB Chairman Mikhail Orda said at the 4th plenary session of the Council of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus on 29 June, BelTA has learned.

Mikhail Orda noted that the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus has always taken and will continue taking an active part in all country’s most important political events. “We are the biggest public organization, hence we cannot stand apart. As the head of state stressed at our 7th Congress, “we should be interested in all the things”, he said.

The FTUB Chairman believes as necessary to take an active part in the forthcoming elections to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the sixth convocation. It is an important political campaign which has a direct impact on the further development of the society. The Federation of Trade Unions has already nominated 271 representatives to the territorial and district elections commissions.

In 2015 the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus was involved in the presidential election campaign. “We undertook commitments to support Alexander Lukashenko in the election campaign and fulfilled them in full. The Federation held many of its events for the first time. Election commissions accredited 7,100 observers – representatives of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus,” Mikhail Orda said.
