No limits on number of international observers for Belarus parliamentary elections

MINSK, 30 July (BelTA) – Belarus will not place any limits on the number of international observers for the elections to the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic which are scheduled for November 2019, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina told the media after her meeting with Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 30 July, BelTA has learned.

“The head of state said that no restrictions will be placed on the accreditation of international observers. At the same time no one will exert additional effort to increase their number,” Lidia Yermoshina said.

According to the CEC chairperson, it is planned to invite Belarus’ main international partners for the observation of the elections. These are the observers from the CIS countries, and also the organizations such as the OSCE and ODIHR. As usual, the Belarusian CEC will invite its counterparts from the central election commissions of other states.
