Brink: Minsk is open to dialogue

MINSK, 18 May (BelTA) – The official Minsk is open to dialogue, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary at the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs Bridget Brink told media following the third round of the U.S.-Belarusian dialogue on human rights in Belarus on 18 May, BelTA has learned.

Ms Bridget Brink stressed that “Belarusian officials are open to dialogue.” Chairperson of the Belarusian Central Election Commission Lidia Yermoshina recently mentioned the possibility of implementing some of the OSCE recommendations, Ms Bridget Brink said. “This is a positive step. We welcome this attitude of Minsk to the recommendations,” said Bridget Brink.

The delegation of the U.S. Department of State including Bridget Brink has arrived in Belarus for the third round of the U.S.-Belarusian dialogue on human rights. Meetings were held with Belarusian officials, including Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei, Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission Lidia Yermoshina and also representatives of the civic society.
