New Year’s address by Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko to Belarusian nation

New Year’s address by Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko to Belarusian nation

New Year’s address by President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Grigoryevich Lukashenko to the Belarusian nation

My fellow Belarusians! Dear guests of Belarus!

The year 2025 is becoming history. The hands of the clock are relentlessly moving towards 12. And together with them we move into the future. And we know precisely what we would like our future to look like.

First of all, it should be peaceful. Peaceful and safe and not only for Belarus. For all the countries and nations. All of us want to live and raise kids under clear skies, let them start independent adult lives with a light heart.

I am absolutely convinced that millions of people in various corners of Earth will make such a wish. May it come true!

As we say farewell to the departing year, we try to leave all the bad things in the past and start the new year with pure and kind thoughts. We pin a lot of hopes on the new year. The hopes vary.

It is a tradition just like the fact that the New Year’s night makes this celebration special.

I know that you will say a lot of kind words to each other after midnight.

For me it is very important to say the key thing to all of you, to the huge Belarusian family. To everyone, who welcomes in the New Year at home, at a friend’s, at a workstation, on duty, or on the road.

These are words of gratitude.

I sincerely say them to our laborers, who have gifted a record-high crop harvest to the country, to people in uniform, on whose shoulders our peace rests.

I thank everyone, who changes our lives by building cities and manufacturing facilities, by developing science and high technologies, by making Belarus clean and green, by creating beauty with their talent and art, by delighting us with their sport victories.

I am particularly grateful to those, who take care of our kids, opening the door to the adult life for them; to those, who wear white lab coats and nurse the health of every patient of theirs; to those who help people in difficult life situations in their line of work or due to the heart’s calling.

And young people need to learn that Belarus is not only pages of textbooks and old photos. Belarus is you, your brains, and your dreams. Suggest new ideas. Chart your own path. The state will help you with that.

Thanks to efforts of Belarusians the year 2025 has been rather good for us although it has not been easy.

Attempts were made to make us live according to foreign laws, to separate us into “right” and “wrong” people, to test our durability with economic storms and political pressure without understanding that Belarus has something they cannot take away. It is our habit to stick together, to work together.

The opponents just simply cannot learn that we are accustomed to creating, not breaking. To uniting instead of rousing. To talking instead of shouting. And it is not a weakness. It is our strength from within, from the ancestors.

We just confidently go about our business. We never seek quarrels and conflicts but we can definitely hold our own.

We’ve been living like that and we will live.

And the tempo of the next few years has been determined: it is the time of concrete deeds! Everyone’s in their own position.

When the clock strikes midnight, before raising your glasses, regardless of wherever you are – in Braslav or Loyev, in Khotimsk or Malorita – I’d like you to think: “What will I do for my Belarus in the new year?” Make just one promise and trust me, the country will change. The quality of our life will grow.

Dear Belarusians!

Esteemed people of good will!

Friends!

The magical moment for the most secret thoughts and personal wishes is upon us.

May the eyes of your kids light up with joy and may the children stay out of trouble.

May our hardworking women welcome their men, who support and protect them, with a smile.

I wish you the captivating and all-consuming kind of love that will help you work miracles and achieve the impossible!

Genuine love is impossible without love for a woman, for a girl!

We honor our mothers, wives, and daughters one day per year. It is time to give proper respect to the special role they play in our life and declare the year 2026 the Year of the Belarusian Woman.

Nature has not created anything more perfect than women!

We will watch over our women and our land. We will protect our future – families, friends, and relatives – from disasters and hardships.

May you find a nook in every little town of ours, in every little village where you can simply stay silent and feel: “I am home. I am in my own land. And I am not here by accident.”

Happy New Year, dear Belarusians!
