Humanitarian project “Physical and social rehabilitation of children with musculoskeletal disorders”

Project name: Physical and social rehabilitation of children with musculoskeletal disorders

Implementation period: 3 years

Applicant: State educational institution Minsk Nursery and Kindergarten No.18

Project goals: to set up a center for rehabilitation of children with musculoskeletal disorders

Project tasks:

• to implement the experience gained by the specialists of the state educational institution Minsk Nursery and Kindergarten No.18 in cooperation with the Belarusian State University of Physical Education, the National Research Center of Sports, and specialists working with this category of people;
• to describe the main areas in the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders in children of preschool age;
• to conduct methodological support for teachers on the prevention of diseases of the musculoskeletal system;
• to develop professional network and knowledge exchange on the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders;

Target group: children with musculoskeletal disorders

Brief description:

• Participation in professional events;
• Cooperation with Minsk Polyclinic No.4, the Belarusian State University of Physical Education, the National Scientific and Practical Center of Sports, the certified neurologist from Minsk Hospital No.10, the mental health specialist from the National Scientific and Practical Center of Otorhinolaryngology. The aforementioned professionals will assist in development of tailored programs of child development and rehabilitation;
• Cooperation with the mass media to increase the parents’ and public awareness, drawing their attention to the importance of preserving the health of the musculoskeletal system of preschool children;
• Creating a public group on the social network Instagram and Viber to post photos and video materials with recommendations on how to work with the children;
• Exchanging experience with representatives of other countries.

Donor resources will be used:
- to purchase and install equipment for the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders and psychosocial rehabilitation of children (children's climbing wall, soft labyrinth, hammocks for yoga, balancing platform, balancing hemisphere, exercise balls (45cm), neoprene roll (1.10 cm), elastic tapes, children's exercise machines (Rider, Running on the Waves, Exercise Bike, Mini Stepper, Children's Twister, Treadmill, Rowing Exercise Machine, Barbell Bench), modular rugs for flat feet correction, massage balls, children's wooden set for posture correction, climbing rope, gymnastic balls with spikes, children's balancer “swing”, balancer track “Zig-zag”, roller with spikes (large), water basketball basket, underwater tunnel, pebbles (large, small), seamless rubber covering for sports grounds).

Sport equipment
- for strengthening spine, back muscles and the entire musculoskeletal system, psycho-emotional relief.

Simulators and other equipment
- for strengthening the musculoskeletal system indoors and in the swimming pool.

Mats and other equipment
- for preventing flat feet and strengthen the foot arch.

Sea pebbles
- for foot massage, flat feet and foot arch strengthening.

Total financing (in US dollars):

- Donor funds – $15.000
- Co-financing – $200 earned from providing additional paid educational services.

Outcome: to set up a center for physical and social rehabilitation of children with musculoskeletal disorders. The center will provide physiological support to children and their parents, consulting services to preschool teachers.
