Voter turnout at presidential election in Belarus at 73.4% as of 16:00

MINSK, 9 August (BelTA) – Voter turnout during the presidential election in Belarus stood at 73.4% as of 16:00, BelTA learned from Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Vadim Ipatov on 9 August.

Voter turnout in Brest Oblast amounted to 75.11% of the total number of registered voters. The figure totaled 75.05% in Vitebsk Oblast, 81.87% in Gomel Oblast, and 75.66% in Grodno Oblast.

Voter turnout stood at 72.3% in Minsk Oblast, 80.29% in Mogilev Oblast, and 58.79% in the city of Minsk. Thus, the nationwide voter turnout reached 73.4% of the voters, Vadim Ipatov said.

Voting has already ended at some polling stations located in sanatoriums, healthcare institutions, and army units. Those polling stations have started counting votes, Vadim Ipatov said.

As for information about voting at polling stations outside the country, the Central Election Commission will receive it by 15:00 on 10 August. The information will be included in the final report the Central Election Commission will approve, Vadim Ipatov said.
