Iranian observer describes presidential election in Belarus as transparent

MINSK, 28 January (BelTA) - The presidential election in Belarus was held transparently, member of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament) of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Keshvari told the media, BelTA has learned.

"The main difference in the electoral processes of our countries is that Belarus has an early voting procedure, while Iran holds elections in one day. We noticed that there was a high level of order and high voter turnout at all polling stations," the observer said.

According to Ali Keshvari, Iran sent two delegations of observers to monitor the presidential election in Belarus: from the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament) and from the Ministry of Interior. "The fact that Belarus invited many international observers confirms that the election was transparent," he stated.

"Holding free election shows that the country is pursuing an independent course,"the observer added.
