About 600 journalists to work at CEC Information Center during Belarus’ election

MINSK, 10 January (BelTA) – About 600 foreign and Belarusian media workers will cover the Belarusian presidential election at the CEC Information Center, CEC Chairman Igor Karpenko told journalists, BelTA reports.

“The Central Election Commission Information Center will start working on 24 January. It will be located in the Palace of the Republic. On 24 January, the center will host a meeting of the CIS Advisory Council of Heads of Electoral Bodies and the Youth Tournament Vybor.BY. An exhibition History of Electoral Law will be arranged at the center. On 25 January, the chairman of the Central Election Commission will hold a press conference. On 26 January, the center will provide updates on the voting process (at 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, 17:00, 19:00, 21:00). The regions and the center for public observation of the election will join the process via videoconference (in line with a separate plan),” said Igor Karpenko.

Experts, observers, and journalists will work at the center.

“On 27 January, the CEC will hold a press conference to announce the preliminary results of the voting,” the CEC chief noted. “It will announce the findings of international observation missions and other foreign observers. About 600 representatives of foreign and domestic media community will work at the CEC Information Center."

The presidential election in Belarus is scheduled for 26 January.
