MINSK, 13 July (BelTA) – A meeting of representatives of the evaluation mission of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE/ODIHR) and the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Belarus will take palace on 15 July, BelTA learned from Secretary of the Belarus Central Election commission (CEC) Nikolai Lozovik.
According to him, the OSCE/ODIHR will be represented by two persons. The mission will assess the situation in terms of working conditions for observers. "Perhaps there will be negotiations on the number of the future observer mission. But these are technical personnel who do not take decisions and who report to their seniors on whether to send an observer mission here, whether there are conditions for work,” the CEC Secretary added.
It is expected that the CIS IPA, ODIHR and OSCE PA, and also PACE will deploy their observation missions at the presidential election in Belarus. The presidential election in Belarus is scheduled for 11 October. The CEC has already approved the schedule for the election campaign. Thus the documents for registration of initiative groups must be submitted no later than 17 July. The places where the collection of signatures is forbidden should be determined by the same date.
