MINSK, 27 July (BelTA) - A representative of the Communist Party and a representative of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus have been accredited as observers at the Central Election Commission (CEC), CEC Chairperson Lidia Yermoshina told reporters.
According to Lidia Yermoshina, Georgy Atamanov, a representative of the Communist Party of Belarus, has been accredited in recent days. Today the documents were signed for a representative of the Liberal Democratic Party.
Previously, the Central Election Commission accredited Sergei Pigarev, a representative of the Belaya Rus association, Dmitry Chernykh from the Belarusian Helsinki Committee, Eduard Naryshkin of the Republican Party of Labor and Justice, Alexander Yevdokimchik from the Belarusian Party of the Left “Just World”, and Dmitry Kuchuk of the Belarusian Green Party.
According to the Election Code, officially registered political parties and public associations can nominate their observers to the CEC.
The president election in Belarus will be held on 11 October. The campaign to collect presidential ballot nomination signatures is currently underway in Belarus. It involves eight initiative groups.
