Rapota: Journalists must highlight country’s development issues during election campaign

MOSCOW, 30 July (BelTA) – During the election campaign mass media must draw attention to the most important aspects of the country’s development, State Secretary of the Union State Grigory Rapota told reporters on 30 July when commenting on the role of mass media in the Belarusian president election campaign, BelTA has learned.

“Wherever it takes place (the election campaign – BelTA’s note), be it in Belarus or in other country, I am against rousing hatred, personal insults. There should be a serious talk about the future of the country, politics, economy, the issues which concern the population. Therefore, journalists play a very important role in highlighting the most important, fundamental issues during the election,” Grigory Rapota said.

The state secretary said that he keeps an eye on all stages of the Belarusian election campaign, including on the dialogue with the international community.
