Putin believes in perfect organization of presidential election in Belarus

SOCHI, 18 September (BelTA) – The presidential election in Belarus will proceed without a hitch. President of Russia Vladimir Putin made the statement as he met with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko in Sochi on 18 September, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Putin said he believes that the presidential election would proceed perfectly and in full compliance with Belarusian and international standards.

A presidential election campaign is always a very responsible and complicated stage in the life of any country, noted the President of Russia. Vladimir Putin said he was aware of the fact that the OSCE ODIHR mission and the CIS mission had started monitoring the election process in Belarus. Russia is represented in both groups. Vladimir Putin wished success to his Belarusian counterpart.

The President of Russia noted that Belarusian-Russian relations develop very successfully. “Certainly, there are some matters that require our close attention, close scrutiny but, on the whole, I would like to note that we achieve the goals we set out to achieve,” said Vladimir Putin.

“We also know about the problems connected with today’s economic issues in the world and in our countries. We understand what is going on. We know what has to be done. Not everything turns out perfectly, it is only natural, but we will confidently go ahead. I have no doubt that all of these difficulties will be overcome,” concluded Vladimir Putin.
