OSCE starts recruiting for its Election Observation Mission to Belarus

MINSK, 31 July (BelTA) – The OSCE has started recruiting for the Election Observation Mission to the Republic of Belarus, BelTA learned from the official website of the organization.

“Following an official invitation to observe the presidential election in the Republic of Belarus, scheduled for 11 October 2015, based on the findings and conclusions of the Needs Assessment Mission deployed from 14-17 July 2015, and in accordance with its mandate, the OSCE/ODIHR is preparing to deploy an Election Observation Mission (EOM) for this election,” reads the statement posted on the website.

The statement reads that all assignments are temporarily contracted positions and that their duration will be for approximately eight weeks (in case of a second round, assignments may be extended by approximately three weeks). Candidates must be citizens of OSCE participating states, excluding citizens of the Republic of Belarus.

Candidates should be available from the end of August 2015 and be prepared to depart on short notice. The OSCE participating states will also be requested to second 40 long-term and 400 short-term observers.
