Presidential election 2015 in Belarus

14 Oct 2015

Opinion: Belarus enjoys trust worldwide

MINSK, 15 October (BelTA) – Belarus enjoys trust on the international arena, member of the House of Representatives’ permanent commission on legislation Natalia Guivik told BelTA.

“The incumbent President of Belarus has earned great reputation both among his people and on the international arena. He personally made a huge contribution to the conflict settlement in Ukraine. It is no doubt that other countries put trust in Belarus,” said Natalia Guivik.

In her words, it is hard to find a more peaceful country in the Commonwealth of Independent States. “On 11 October Belarusians, first of all, cast theri votes for peace and law order. I think nothing can be more important for people,” the MP said.

“The electoral campaign was civilized and peaceful. Presidential candidates were provided with absolutely equal rights. Each one of them was given equal opportunities to give speeches on TV, radio and press. They were also able to meet directly with voters, talk to labor collectives and hold pre-election meetings,” added Natalia Guivik.

In her words, the legal culture of the citizens improves every year. “In my opinion, people’s legal awareness has become considerably deeper. They are willing to fulfill their civil duty, which can be proved by a high turnout both during the early voting and on the election day,” the MP said.
