Nazarbayev congratulates Lukashenko on re-election on behalf of CIS heads of state

ASTANA, 16 October (BelTA - Kazinform) – On behalf of the CIS heads of state Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev has congratulated Alexander Lukashenko on re-election.

“I think, it will be right to congratulate our counterpart and friend Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko on a convincing victory at the presidential election and wish him strong health and success on this responsible post before the beginning of the session,” Nursultan Nazarbayev said before the session of the CIS Heads of State Council.

“I am convinced that under your leadership Belarus will continue to promote our comprehensive integration processes,” the Kazakhstan President said.

Apart from that, Nursultan Nazarbayev congratulated the people and President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev on the successful parliamentary election held on 4 October.

It is great because this was the first calm election in many years; the people once again demonstrated their wisdom and proved that they want to live in a peaceful state. I am convinced that the new parliament will live up to the expectations and make a big contribution to building the economy of strong Kyrgyzstan, the Kazakhstan President believes.

The session of the CIS Heads of State Council takes place in Burabay, Kazakhstan, and is presided by the leader of Kazakhstan.

Partaking in the session are Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, Armenia President Serzh Sargsyan, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, Kyrgyzstan President Almazbek Atambayev, Russia President Vladimir Putin, Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon, Uzbekistan President Islam Karimov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova Andrei Galbur, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Satlyk Satlykov, Charge d’Affaires ad interim of Ukraine in Kazakhstan Yuri Lazebnik, and Chairman of the Executive Committee – CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev.
