Gaidukevich, Ulakhovich congratulate Lukashenko on election win

MINSK, 11 October (BelTA) - Candidate for the Belarus presidency Sergei Gaidukevich congratulated the incumbent president Alexander Lukashenko on the election win, BelTA has learned.

"Before the president election I said that that the incumbent President was the favorite and leader of this race. I set a task for myself to rival him. For me, for politicians, for people who look at things objectively this is normal. I offered my congratulations to Alexander Lukashenko on the win, and rightly so, because we must be united," Sergei Gaidukevich in an interview with the ONT TV channel. The most important thing is a strong, sovereign, democratic Belarus and peaceful sky above our heads, he stressed.

As for the exit polls Sergei Gaidukevich said that he takes them pragmatically. "I spoke this morning about the data that we received on the preliminary ballot from the regions. They showed that the incumbent President won. For us, it was obvious and understandable,” he said.

Candidate for the Belarus presidency Nikolai Ulakhovich also congratulated Alexander Lukashenko on the convincing victory in the polls. “I would like to join my comrades, colleagues, competitors of the incumbent president in order to also congratulate him on a convincing victory in the polls,” said Nikolai Ulakhovich.

The candidate underlined he was not worried about his final position in the race for the Belarus presidency. “Elections have always been a cause for celebration for Belarusians. I believe that the fact that a patriot has won — I mean incumbent president Alexander Lukashenko — is a huge accomplishment for our party because we are patriots, too. We have always supported him,” remarked Nikolai Ulakhovich.
