MINSK, 15 August (BelTA) – The Central Election Commission (CEC) plans to register candidates for the post of the President of Belarus at its session on 10 September, CEC Chairperson Lidia Yermoshina said at the sixth extraordinary conference of the Belarusian Union of Women on 15 August, BelTA informs.
After the registration of the candidates meetings with voters will be held on a declarative basis.
Lidia Yermoshina expressed hope that members of the women’s organization would take an active part in the campaign. She stressed that it is important to call upon coworkers to take an active part in the election. “If we stay indifferent to our future, to what is taking place around us, we will not be able to build our life in our common home,” the CEC head stressed.
In her words, the election campaign is calm in the country. “We get few complaints,” the CEC Chairperson said. However, the activity of some groups is provocative. “Their activity is aimed at their candidacies to be ruled out from the run. Yet, the CEC is patient and provides wide opportunities for nomination,” Lidia Yermoshina said.
