Andreichenko: Belarus will provide all conditions for democratic, open election

MINSK, 6 July (BelTA) - Belarus will provide all conditions for the democratic and open election, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Belarusian National Assembly Vladimir Andreichenko said in an interview with the ONT TV channel on 5 July, BelTA has learned.

“We will provide all necessary conditions for the democratic, open and well-organized election, we will do our best to turn the election into a holiday for people which would unite our society,” Vladimir Andreichenko noted.

He emphasized that when determining the date of the election, the parliament took two criteria into account. The date should comply with the norms of the Constitution of Belarus and be convenient for the population. “11 October is a good date as by this time the vacation campaign will be over, students go to universities, agricultural works are finished,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.

Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei also said in an interview that international organizations are invited to observe the election. “The OSCE/ODIHR traditionally observes the election, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly and a number of other organizations are also interested. The President gave an instruction to invite everyone who will be willing to take part in this process,” he remarked.
