System for monitoring status of historical, cultural values to be set up in Belarus

MINSK, 17 June (BelTA) - Belarus will create a system to monitor the status of historical and cultural values, reads Belarus’ draft social and development program for 2016-2020, which is to be discussed at the 5th Belarusian People’s Congress, BelTA has learned.

According to the document, a system for monitoring the status of historical and cultural values will be created in the country and it will operate on a permanent basis. This will enable to get an objective assessment of the artistic and technical status of the sites for the inclusion into the nomination file to be submitted to the Tentative List of the UNESCO World Heritage in 2016-2020.

Plans have been made to increase the share of restored monuments included in the State List of Historical and Cultural Values of the Republic of Belarus from 15% in 2015 to 30% in 2020.

Development of national culture will be aimed at preserving the cultural identity of the Belarusian nation, promoting national creative traditions, strengthening the positive image of Belarus in the international cultural community.

With a view to making a greater use of the potential of the Belarusian cultural landscape and its involvement in tourism, modern centers of culture and services will be created based on local traditions and historical and cultural values.

The system of continuous development of art education will be further developed. Support will be provided to talented youth as they implement creative projects.

These measures will help expand access to cultural goods for various categories of the population.
