MINSK, 9 November (BelTA) – The Belarusian People's Assembly will hear different opinions but all of them should be aimed at making the Republic of Belarus stronger, Belarus' Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said at the first meeting of the national organizing committee for the sixth Belarusian People's Assembly, BelTA has learned.

“We should ensure that the most worthy candidates are nominated for participation in the assembly. We should also invite constructive foreign guests and leaders of parties and public associations. Different opinions and different views on the issues facing the country should be expressed at the Belarusian People's Assembly. But all of them should be aimed at making the Republic of Belarus stronger," Roman Golovchenko said.

As the head of government noted, preparations for the event should go without unnecessary bureaucracy. The organizing committee is expected to prepare proposals on the date and procedure of the meeting, the number of participants, and the agenda.

“An important point that must be taken into account is the epidemiological situation in our country. It is necessary to work out optimal solutions and hold this event without risk to the health of people,” the prime minister said.

In his opinion, the Belarusian People's Congress is “a particularly significant form of people's power in the country”. “It is the platform that exercises the constitutional right of the citizens of our country to participate in the discussion of state and public life. This is indeed an important event that will largely determine the strategic areas of Belarus' social and economic development for the next five years,” Roman Golovchenko said.

According to him, in contrast to the previous ones the forthcoming Belarusian People's Assembly will discuss not only social and economic issues, but also the improvement of the social and political system. “But we must remember that the basis for everything is the economy. So the key issue will be the program of social and economic development of Belarus for 2021-2025. This program is a baseline forecast which is traditionally submitted for consideration and approval of the Belarusian People's Assembly and defines the target parameters of the state's development for five years," the prime minister added.

Roman Golovchenko also voiced proposals to set up the organizing committee's working bodies. First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Maksim Ryzhenkov has been nominated to head the working group on general issues. The group responsible for synthesizing the proposals, which will be developed during the public discussion of socio-economic and socio-political development issues will be led by Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Andrei Kuntsevich, the group to coordinate media work and to provide information support - by Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko.

Deputy Secretary of the Security Council Aleksandr Rakhmanov will lead the group on security matters. The group to work with representatives of the diplomatic corps, Belarusian diaspora, international organizations, foreign guests will be chaired by First Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Aleksandr Guryanov, logistics group - first deputy head of the President Property Management Directorate Nikolai Selivanov. The secretariat of the organizing committee will be led by Konstantin Burak, head of the Council of Ministers Office.
