Fifth All-Belarusian People’s Congress to focus on economic development

Fifth All-Belarusian People’s Congress to focus on economic development

MINSK, 3 May (BelTA) – The fifth All-Belarusian People’s Congress will focus on economic development, BelTA learned from Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko during the opening ceremony of the Belarusian Industrial Forum on 3 May.

“Economy is the foundation of everything. If economy grows, if people have highly-paid jobs and good prospects, then everything will be fine in the country. I think it will be the keynote of the fifth All-Belarusian People’s Congress,” stressed the Deputy Prime Minister.

Vladimir Semashko reminded that Belarus still remains a major industrial nation in the post-Soviet space. “Such prominent brands as BelAZ, MAZ, Gomselmash, and MTZ have been preserved and have improved their standing. In the last 15 years we’ve expanded a lot, gaining 8.2% every year. It is the opinion of the World Bank and the UN and it fully correlates with our data,” he explained.

Speaking about the state of basic assets in the production sector, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that their deterioration is getting closer to the norm — 54%. “Yet I am not satisfied with the state of affairs in the production sector although all the large enterprises have successfully presented their development plans for the period till 2025 and the program for the entire Industry Ministry is nearly ready. It provides for innovative and investment development, construction and renewal of the assets that we have now as well as the construction of new enterprises,” he stated.

The Belarusian Industrial Forum is scheduled to take place in Minsk on 3-6 May. Over 200 exhibitors intend to take part in the forum. Those are leading representatives of all branches of the Belarusian production sector and foreign ones. An intensive business program is available. The key event is the plenary session on innovative and investment development of the production sector of the Republic of Belarus. A number of roundtable sessions, conferences, presentations dedicated to the topical aspects of the production sector are supposed to take place as well. At least 30 long-term agreements are expected to be signed during the forum.
