Abundant innovations to empower business initiatives in Belarus’ draft five-year development program

MINSK, 19 June (BelTA) – There is an abundance of rather sweeping innovations meant to empower the business initiative in the draft program on Belarus’ social and economic development in 2016-2020. Chairwoman of the National Statistics Committee of Belarus Inna Medvedeva made the statement on air of the Belarusian TV channel ONT on 19 June, BelTA has learned.

According to Inna Medvedeva, the document pays close attention to innovative economy. It contains a lot of novelties with regard to the formation of the investor class, the emergence and greater development of the high-tech sector of the economy, and the development of the services sphere. A considerable part of the document covers the matters, which are important for every Belarusian, such as healthcare, education, tourism, and entrepreneurship. Allowing every enterprising person to start a business and earn a decent salary is the central idea, noted the Chairwoman of the National Statistics Committee of Belarus.

Inna Medvedeva said she believes that citizens are ready to implement the program that provides for empowering their initiatives. “If you talk to representatives of the business community, they will tell you: let us venture and we will try,” she said.

The Chairwoman of the National Statistics Committee of Belarus noted that priorities for 2016-2020 had been worked out by analyzing tasks of the previous five-year term. “The main provisions of the program have a chapter dedicated to the problems that emerged in the course of implementation of the previous five-year program. The analysis prompts priorities that will allow recovering and enhancing economic growth in the next five-year term. An economic increase will result in better living standards of the citizens,” said Inna Medvedeva.
