MINSK, 25 April (BelTA) – Five-time Olympic champion, five-time world champion, two-time European champion and many-time USSR champion Nellie Kim has joined the team of Star Ambassadors of the 2nd European Games 2019, Evgeniya Nikitina, spokesperson for the Minsk European Games Organizing Committee (MEGOC), told BelTA.

MEGOC CEO Georgy Katulin gave the certificate to the athlete at Minsk Arena.

The information project Star Ambassadors of the European Games 2019 aims to promote the upcoming multisport event in Belarus and abroad, attract attention to its ideas, drum up the interest of Belarusians and the international community, and popularize sports included in the European Games program.

The Star Ambassador title is awarded to outstanding personalities in sport, art and culture of Belarus and foreign countries. The title has been awarded to four-time Olympic champion Darya Domracheva; Russia’s famous circus animal tamers, People’s Artists Askold and Edgard Zapashnys; Olympic canoe sprint champion of 2008, member of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Aleksandr Bogdanovich; track and field athlete, European marathon winner of 2018 Volha Mazuronak; three-time Olympic freestyle wrestling champion Alexander Medved; blogger and TV host Anna Bond; Belarus’ pianist and conductor Rostislav Krimer; UNICEF representative in Belarus Dr. Rashed Mustafa Sarwar; Ukrainian singer Ani Lorak; honored master of sports, five-time Olympic medalist in fencing Alexander Romankov. Miss Belarus 2018 Maria Vasilevich, Belarusian singer Ruslan Alekhno, and Olympic champion in figure skating Alexei Yagudin of Russia.
