Moldova Ambassador praises European Games host Minsk

MINSK, 26 June (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Moldova to Belarus Victor Sarochean shared his impressions about the European Games and its host Minsk in the program “2nd European Games. Information Channel” on the Belarus 1 TV Channel, BelTA has learned.

During the visit to Belarus Moldova President Igor Dodon visited the Athletes’ Village to see the accommodation of athletes, the diplomat said. “Everybody is very happy with the accommodation conditions. The scale is impressive. It is not easy to host 5,000 people at one place comfortably, and provide them with tasty organic meals on time. We have been impressed,” the Ambassador said. “Athletes have no complaints regarding the accommodation. Everything is good. Leisure is well organized, public transport runs on time,” he noted.

When asked whether the games in Minsk correspond to the status, the Ambassador said: “Aim higher. Judging by the way these games have been organized, the work carried out by the local authorities, I can say the event corresponds to the European and world level. We attended many competitions and saw how things are done here. Everything is great,” he noted. In his view, the Belarusians are traditionally very disciplined; responsibilities clearly divided. Volunteers are great. We already know who will host the next games. It will be difficult for them to overdo the Belarusians,” the diplomat added.

The Moldova ambassador highlighted the work of the fan zones: “They host very many people. There’s polyphony of voices, languages. I have a wealth of impressions from the fan zones. It is good that they host culture days of different countries, concerts, entertainment and offer a great choice of food.”

Speaking generally about the idea of holding European Games, Victor Sarochean stressed that they will have a great future. “Despite the smaller budget in Minsk than in Baku, the level of delivery is very high. Not every country, in my opinion, can pull what Belarus did. It is a popularization of the sport, contribution to the image, promotion of healthy lifestyle, and serious investment in the future. I am sure that after the games Belarus will see an increase in tourists flows,” the diplomat said.
